The local name of this island is “Narical Gingira” also spelled “Narikel jinjera” for having lots of coconut trees and has an extension part named Chera Dwip.
 As the island measures only 8 sq km, it is possible to walk around the island in a day. The beautiful coral reef and long coral beach could easily appeal your mind.  The best time to enjoy the beauty of this island is November to February.

Chhera Dwip or Chhera Island

Chera dwip, also known as Cheradia Island or Cheridia Island, is the extension part of St. Martin Island. Chera dwip literally means “The Seperated Part” because this extension part is divided by sea tides. During low tide period the connecting road between Chera dwip and the main ground appears and it takes only two and half an hour to reach there from St. Martin on foot. You can choose the most popular medium - local motorboat or tourist boat.
Here you will find a bush area which is the only green part on it. You will also find corals all over the island. In winter season many migrated birds come to this island and thus increase the beauty of this land.
To reach in Chera Dwip, first you have to reach in Cox’s Bazar. Then you can hire a speed boat or any other water vehicle to reach there.
There is no permanent human inhabitation. So it is advised that tourists should go there early and come back by afternoon

How to go to St Martin Island

 To go to St. Martin from anywhere from Bangladesh, first you have to go to Cox’s Bazar. From Cox’s Bazar you have to go to Taknaf by jeep and then from Taknaf you can start for St. Martin by sea-track, trawler or ship. It takes only 12 hour to reach St. Martin by road from capital Dhaka and only two and half an hour from Taknaf by trawler, launch or ship. There are some direct long root bus services from capital Dhaka to Cox’s Bazar. The cost of this bus services is – AC 650-700 BDT and non-AC 350-400BDT. From Cox’s Bazar there are some local bus services to Taknaf which costs only 30-40BDT. Beside this you can prefer reserve microbus services or 8-10 seats costing 500-1000BDT. All these are regular transport. From Taknaf to St. Martin some marine services like sea-track, Carry Sindabad and Nafsi ship. You can also choose trawler or any other water vehicle. It takes only two hour to reach St. Martin.
